Lokmat Pratishthan is the Social,Econmical and Educational Voluntary work Satara ,Sangli ,Sindhudurg ,Pune,Solapur , Ahmadnagar is extremely poorly Districts. Although this is globalization situation the rural area remains backward. The people are far from modern technique and away from education. The main occupation of the Poorly 6 Dist is farming. The farming is only depending upon rainy season because The maximum rainfall rictsis 300 to 350 per annum The fertility of land is very poor. Less rain well production in land otherwise obtain very low income.90% Poorly men having less land. They produce Bajra and wheat in some places in their land. All year they working hard in their land and produces one time income. So the poorely man income level is very low. They survive with their daily need from theirs low income. Hence they migrate for earning more income toward urban area.More than peoples have working in Mumbai They work on Mathadi(Lifting the luggage and loaded angles and steel , drainage excavation, building construction & industrial construction or in labour contract. It raises many problems to their child & women.

Lokmat have been started in 2000. Some youngsters from rural areas of Satara District took a Two year Master of social work collage at Satara. This led them towards social work. After the training, they decided to form an organization to solve problems of the poor community. Thus Lokmat Pratishthan was born in 2000.with the goal of “Over all Rural Development”

The Lokmat Pratishthan have working in this area to solve the problem which faces by poorly from the last 10 years. A Lokmat activity mainly focuses on water & sanitation , women Empowerment. It includes Jalswarajya Project in Satara and Sindhudurg Districts, Acceleration of Universal Salt Iodization and Child Survival in Maharashtra Project and Pediatric Hiv-aids Project.
